Rules:
Classic Sudoku rules. In addition, the first 25 digits of pi must be in the Indiana border and the first 9 digits of pi must be in the positive and negative diagonals.
Background:
This sudoku is inspired by the Indiana pi bill, a piece of legislature "establishing" a proof of the impossible "squaring the circle" problem. Amongst the many math errors, the proof incorrectly asserts that pi is equal to 3. As a result, I thought it would be nice to start with the border of Indiana and try to string the digits of pi around it. When I could not do it consecutively, I relaxed the consecutive constraint and added a 3 in the center. With some more bits of interesting logic and clues, I created this sudoku.
I really love how well the Indiana border works for sudoku problems. I already made another Sudoku puzzle with the Indiana border on it. The bottom border of the state provide some easier clues to help solve the top parts. If you can't make any obvious progress when starting out, consider looking closely at the 1, 3, 5, and 8 clues of the puzzle. Those were the numbers I started trying to fill in at first. I hope you enjoy!
